I made the most delicious pancakes yesterday (I’m eating the leftovers as I type this). Click here for the recipe!
Seriously though…this was the most delicious healthy thing I’ve ever made. The almond extract is what did it…and the sauce…and probably the fact that I’ve never made pancakes that didn’t suck so these stood out in comparison.
I then proceeded to take photos of myself eating them in my incredibly empty living room. (If you’re getting a funny mental image of me running back and forth from the camera and using self timer…erase it. i have a remote, so it wasn’t that silly).
So I’ve been pretty busy this weekend. I did a couple projects for the new apartment I’m moving to next month (27 days!).
The biggest one: The end table. This was a gift from my sister. It was in pretty bad shape, but with daddy’s help and a couple coats of paint I think it will look pretty cool in my colorful living room. This matches the quilt and coasters featured here.
So…that was a cheap piece of furniture. Just a major time investment this weekend.
I’m also pretty proud of these lamps I did.
Here’s what both bases looked like before (already taped off for painting):
I got two these at a thrift store for $7 each. I got the plain white shades at walmart for $4.
For this one I spray painted the base and covered the lamp shade with fabric (as you can see from the above picture). This will go in my craft room.
I also spray painted the other base as well as the chevron pattern on the shade. It was really difficult to tape off the chevron pattern so it’s far from perfect, but I’m happy with it. This one’s for my living room.
AND I have a large lamp shade that I also painted that goes to a floor lamp which will go in my craft room. This is shinier in person…it’s the same gold spray paint as the table lamp base. Also not perfect but a little better than the chevron one.
I then spent most of today packing all the stuff that has accumulated at my parent’s house! It’s going to be one crazy move…there are too many things! But I’m looking forward to getting settled in.
Not that anyone cares, but I have NOT been upholding my end of the bargain. I think it’s been a combination of being super busy getting ready to move next month, insisting on taking WAY too many pictures, and having a computer that lacks the processing power for me to edit them all in a timely fashion that has prevented me from being able to sit down for several hours at a time and post some damn pictures. I also haven’t taken any fantastic pictures lately because, well…I’m not that great at it yet. But I did get some good ones at the beach this weekend. I had to sift through all 250 that I took to find them, so finally…here they are.
Kure Pier. Great place.
I got lucky that the bird took off right when I was trying to get a picture of him perched on the railing. This is way cooler than that picture would have been.
This is a strip of colorful houses at the beginning of Kure beach. We kept driving past them all weekend and they were so neat looking I knew I had to take some pictures of them before the weekend ended. I tried to one afternoon but there was NO parking anywhere. So sunday morning I was awake before everyone and I tried again. I’m glad I had to wait until the morning because the lighting was much better then! My only disappointment is that it was difficult to capture ALL the houses in one shot and be able to see all the colors.
My favorite spot at the house.
A couple of the many sunrise pictures that I woke up at 5:20am to take. It was my first time ever seeing the sunrise at the beach and it was well worth it.
Hopefully I won’t go as long between blog posts again, but that’s probably pretty likely. Moving to my new place in 5 weeks!
